SpearmintLOVE Interview with Laura Novotny

Exclusive interview with Laura Novotny! She's a self-described health and fitness fanatic and a mother to an adorable Spearmint Baby. She shares about her life over at laurajulaine. Sleep, breastfeeding, postpartum, PPA, and plenty of fitness inspiration from this mom and athlete!

SpearmintWhat does a day in the life look like for you?

Laura: Everyday is so different, as I think most people with a newborn will know! I own my own business and run my social media by myself so it’s a bit crazy. I usually start my days at 5:30am with a workout, wake my daughter up at 7am and get the day going. My day consists of emails, DM’s, calls, feeding Mia, playing with her, and so much more I don’t even know what I do all day haha!

SpearmintWhat is your best piece of parenting advice to new moms?

Laura: You’re the best mom for your baby. Opinions will get thrown at you left and right but the decisions you make for you and your family are better than whatever anyone tells you!

SpearmintWhat is your best piece of advice to new moms for the labor/birth process?

Laura: Whenever you get nervous or scared for labor.. remind yourself it is YOUR BODY that is birthing this baby, your body can’t be stronger than you. It knows what to do. And this is the one time that pain is a good thing because you’re moments away from meeting your little one.

SpearmintWhat's your all-time favorite baby product?

Laura: Burp rags (haha just kidding, but not really). I would say the Solly baby wrap. Anytime my daughter is having a moment and we can’t get her to stop crying, I put her in my wrap and within 5 minutes is calm. She loves being close to me, hearing my heart, and feeling my skin.

SpearmintThree baby names you love but won't be using?

Laura: Sawyer (for a girl), Jackson, and Brooklyn

SpearmintAs an athlete, what would you recommend to moms with babies or young children wanting to make a positive change toward exercise or nutrition goals?

Laura: Start small. Little changes add up overtime and make the biggest difference. Starting small could be adding in an extra serving of vegetables a day or waking up 10 minutes earlier to go on a short walk. I see it too often that people give up because they got overwhelmed with doing too much. Living a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t be a chore, it should be exciting!
